RoHS 2.0

The Directive (EU) 2015/863 (RoHS 2.0) amended the ROHS 1.0 which included lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr VI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). The new Directive added 4 new substances of phthalate: DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP. It took effect July 22, 2019. So far, there are 10 controlled items in RoHS 2.0. Pyrolyzers are tailor-made analyzers for the directive RoHS 2.0. Based on the physical properties of samples, these instruments can rapidly detect compounds without sample pretreatment, waste liquid, or environmental assessment requirements. Due to their low maintenance and consumable costs, pyrolyzers are popular across many industries.

Challenges

High Cost
It spend a lot to purchase gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) equipment and to maintain.
Complex Operation
It needs experienced operators with professional skills to set parameters, perform sample pretreatment and analyze data.
Pollution
GC-MS equipment emits amounts of wastewater and waste gas. These pollutants pose operational risks.
